For the last year or so I've had a handgun stashed away in my truck and just recently I've started to CCW in my state. Unfortunately thought I had to drive to lovely Jersey City, NJ yesterday for work and I had to take the handgun out of the truck and leave my CCW at home in the safe as well. Granted I've only CCWed for less then a month now, but now I'm here in NJ and I feel, well, naked if you know what I mean. Just feel wrong somehow.

Man I'm not liking this feeling at all. :uhoh: I could of just left the handgun in the truck at the least, but then again NJ has some pretty strict laws down here. Oh well, I'll be home tomorrow and things will be back to normal. I hope!!!!

On a side note, driving down 95 trying to reach the George Washington bridge going through Manhatten SUCKS!!!!!!! :banghead: I REALLY have to find a better way. Damn 100 plus degrees outside, bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour and my truck was running WAY to hot. Talk about nerve wracking!!!!!

You are quite right.

New Jersey's institutionalized hostility to and contempt of gun owners is flat out WRONG.

It's EVIL, and it flourishes the toxic environment there.

If you drove through Manhattan by going south on I-95, I think you missed the George Washington bridge.

RaggedClaw, Actually 95 south and the George Washington Bridge are the same road. I drop off of 95 on the NJ Turnpike when I head towards the Holland Tunnel. NJ Turnpike, another great road with WAY to many tolls on it. EasyPass is your friend. lol

Luckily Shermacman I don't have to drive at great length on 128 North or 93 North to get to work. I only hit a little of the 128/93/95 merge and that is long enough. If I had to drive these roads all the time I'd have a lot more road rage situations I'm sure.

Heh heh, I just meant that if you were shootin' for the GW bridge and you ended up in Manhattan, you missed the GW bridge :)

How come it's free to get into NJ but you have to pay to leave? :D

I've been through NJ before. I hope I don't have to again! :D

Maybe a little out of your way, but on the rare and ugly occasion that I need to go that way, I usually go over the Tappan Zee Bridge, continue on 287 to the Pallisades Parkway, and get on the NJ Tpke in Fort Lee.

Sheesh, you complain about a 1 day visit to the Peoples Republic of NJ - what about those who have to live there!? I used to, before escaping over the wire into Delaware, on the way to Texas, FA (that's Free America, for those of you who haven't seen Red Dawn). Now I carry virtually every day (which just freaks people I know back in the PRNJ - heh, heh, heh!), and I own boatloads of hollowpoint ammo and 20 & 30 round mags. It is good to be free.

The laws DO suck for guns in NJ, no doubt. Don't get caught with a gun in the car, even locked in the trunk in a separate case from the ammo, unless you can PROVE that you are merely transitting through the state. The state cops will drag your ass into jail so fast that your head will spin - and goodbye to the gun forever, even if you are ultimately exonerated (and don't count on a gun-friendly judge to help that to occur - there MAY be 1 or 2 in the whole state, but I've never heard of any).

The PRNJ - a good place to be from.

Sorry about that Ragged Claw. Actually I had to go on the Path to lower Manhatten today and visit a site down by Battery Park. Holy crap that area is like a meat market. Hot women EVERYWHERE!!!! Not to mention the 100 degrees with humidity that made most people's cloths cling. I was never more happier to be walking. ;)
