just stoopped into my local shop this morning, did my background checking, I've been delayed till the 26, oh well. more time for my accessoreis i've ordered to arrive.

anyway, I'm buying a new Glock 27! awesome! and over on the GT forums I learned that the new .40 cal Glocks have improved chamber support! Righteous! so what's the word on the model 27? I also ordered a Lone Wolf .40 to 9 conversion barrel, because it was comparatively inexpensive and it will let me shoot 9mm too. I have a Sigma 9MM and a USP 40 also, so this allows my "pocket" gun commonality with whichever one i choose.

please let me know about great things to have for it, or tips and tricks, etc.

Congrats on the G27! I have a G26 and a G27 (great little conceal carry pistols) and really enjoy shooting both of them. The G27 is a very nice pistol, but just a tad too large for pocket carry (IMHO). It is a great IWB holster type gun though (doesn't print at all with just a thin summer short sleeve shirt covering it (IMHO)). I carry my G26, G27, G29 and G30 with Pearce pinkie finger mag extensions (the +0 ones). This gives me a better purchase on the gun when drawing it from my IWB holster and the +0 extensions (IMHO) don't add that must more to the grip, so that it doesn't really print anymore than without them (YMMV).

9mm conversion barrels are great, but I would defiantly only use them for strict range/practise use only. I don't have a 9mm conversion barrel for any of my .40S&W Glocks, but from everything I heard about them, they are not 100% reliable (you might get a feed jam or two while using it and G26 mags, no biggie for practice use though), so I wouldn't recommend it for carry or home defense (stick with the factory stock .40S&W barrel for that use).

....for what it's worth.

I own a Glock 23 and I've heard this from armorers and others with much more experience than I: if you leave the Glock stock and don't accessorize it with after-market trinkets and leave the internals alone, it will be "sun rises" reliable and go bang every time. Reliability issues tend to crop up after throwing in that tungsten rod, 3.5 lb trigger job, etc. .... for what it's worth.

so this allows my "pocket" gun commonality

Well, being a Glock, the first "great thing" you need for pocket carry is a Pocket Holster.

It is not safe to carry loaded in your pocket unless the trigger/safety tab is covered.

And I second the "don't trust the 9mm barrel for SD use" advice.
There is quite a size difference between the 9mm & .40 S&W cases.

Mags, slide breach faces, and .40 extractor tension on a 9mm case is not at all the same, or right, between the two.

Yep, I would never pocket carry any gun without a proper pocket holster, that is for sure. Same goes for the folks that love to stuff a bare pistol in their pants without a holster and call it good to go, that is just asking for trouble (maybe some people don't mind shooting a hole into their goodies, leg and/or foot:evil:).

The 3.5 connector is a factory part. All my Glocks run 100% with the 3.5 triggers(Actually 4#):)

Congrats on the new 27!

not really going to pocket carry it, maybe in a pocket holster in a jacket, but I don't wear clothes that make for good pocket carry anyway. IWB is definitely how I will be carrying it. maybe an ankle holster if i find one that fits and is comfortable.

are there any really good concealment OWB holsters out there? someone posted about the FIST holsters, how are they?

hey wedge do I get a whole pitcher to myself or is it just a glass, since it's the littlest glock available?

actually it's funny because when i filled out my application for the club and nra membership i left with the 07 glock kool-aid magazine, and it certainly didn't help keep me away.

and i can go get it tomorrow the next day, or tuesday at the latest...

Congratulations on the new G27. I have a G22 and my wife surprised me earlier this week with a G27. We take our CHL tomorrow so this will be my primary ccw probably. This one is so much easier to conceal.
I'm sure you will love it to.

The 27 was the Glock I first fell in love with. You're going to love it. One tip: get used to and learn to shoot it well without the mag extentions. It's a tool, not an accessory.

Great choice! I have a G23 and G27. Both are quite lively with higher pressure loads like Winchester Ranger ammo. Hold on tight!

As much as you want...Glock seems to allow free refills :)

Fired it today! txgolfer you're right, it was quite a bit different than my USP 40. way fun though, but i will definitely have to get in some more structured range time to practice grouping so i can get used to sighting with it.
does anyone else close an eye while shooting?

shot about 170 rounds out of it, 2 ranger non-t 155s, a few magazines of georgia arms 180grn gold dots, fifty unknown federal fmj, and about fifty 180 grain remington UMC.
I was shooting the UMC last, and one of the rounds did not fire. I don't know what caused it but it definitely looked like a light hit to me, i should have kept the round but unfired rounds with struck primers make me nervous.the hit was off center, abnormally small and shallow. the round was the first from that magazine, all the others went boom as expected.

also, should I make a different post about the light striker hit/bad primer?

I have never experienced a light striker hit/bad primer in my G17. Might want to investigate over on Glocktalk a little more. UMC is not the greatest ammo but I've never had a problem with it. I have shot a few 1,000 UMCs through my gun.

A big thing to remember is after the first shot to only allow the trigger to go far enough to reset. You'll feel a "click" when that happens. Makes more much better shooting. I happen to not mind the trigger too much, and after I got used to the reset shooting quickly was pretty easy.

Glad you had some fun.

You get any leather for it yet?

yeah when i came home with it there was a package waiting for me, nothing super-nice, a Galco IWB, WB285 is on the body-side of it near the muzzle opening. I like it, it's pretty soft leather but it's starting to conform to the pistol a bit more.
and i also have ordered a FIST kydex IWB for it, waiting on it, how are they?

and I am really kind of stumped about the light strike, i've never heard of that even happening with these pistols before, maybe I'll invest in a heavy-duty flame suit and post about it on glocktalk.

When you man up, you'll get a G30 or G36, until then enjoy your pea shooter.

Just kidding. I have had a couple .40s though not the G27. I love the round but decided to consolidate to .45s.
You are going to love the G27 from everything I have read and the ones I have fired.

Might as well start picking out your next one. I have ended up with a G17, G19, G20, G21, G22, G23, G26, and G27. My wife has snitched the G19, G26, and G27 so I have retaliated by purchasing an S&W 60 and 340PD to replace my lost pocket rockets. I don't heavily modify them, but they all seem to have ended up with Glock 3.5# connector, NY1 trigger spring, AroTek slide stop and magazine catch, and Heinie Straight Eight Sights. The 26 and 27 also got Pearce +0 extensions on the mags.
