The "printers type" (linotype) will be far too hard for anything except high speed gaschecked rifle bullets.
Actually as long as you adjust your patch, they can be used for round ball in a rifle, or plain, in a smoothbore. Don't expect much if any deformation if you are going hunting, but linotype will work fine. Some folks in Kalifoяиia are resorting to brass and zinc as the lead ban is stopping them from using traditional, patched round ball. They are buying the brass balls prefabricated..., not casing their own.
