Hello Everyone,

Excluding the Kubotan, cheap imported junk, and makeshift implements can anyone direct me to a reliable source for a high quality yarawa stick?

I remember reading about such an implement in SWAT magazine a few years ago, but cannot find the issue now. It was one made out of aircraft aluminum and designed for fighting more than the Kubotan's more sedate approach.

Thank you for your help.

I saw some very nice ones at Blade, but I don't remember who made them. One model even had removable endpieces!

Really, a mini-Maglite works great, and everyone needs a light.

Have you forgotten about metal detectors? Stay with wood or plastic and make sure it is a throw away. There are many situations where it would be uncomfortable to explain possesion of a Yawara. I think you are better off with an oval cross section in a non metallic medium. I would also consider a rough rather than a smooth exterior. If you want metal, Walmart sells a 2AA flashlight that is about 8" long and has a checkered or roughened exterior. Wipe the batteries and the lens. Do not purchase with a credit card or online with any means. All of the above advice is intended for law abiding people.

Uh, go to the local hardware store.

Find a thick piece of wooden dowel rod, probably in the 1/2 inch diameter range.

Buy at five foot chunk of that dowel rod for something like $1.50.

Then, cut to appropriate lengths. If you've got a lathe or a sharp knife, carve parts of it to fit your hand better.

Voila......

Pick an LED flashlight that projects out of each side of your closed hand and no one will ever have anything to say about whether you're carrying a weapon or not.
