Just curious, what is the best place to get a decent, yet no too pricey, carry belt? Where did you guys get yours? Thanks!

Okay, nobody laugh.

I got a real heavy belt by DKNY at TJ Maxx for $10.

Its solid leather and as heavy as a Don Hume belt.

I bought a Dickies brand work belt at Walmart for $9.99. Works great for my Colt 1911 in a Desantis Inner Piece IWB holster.

You can get them from holster makers typically, they tend to be pricey but are MUCH more rigid than a normal belt. I have one from Galco.

Ok, just ordered a comp tac C-TAC holster. http://www.comp-tac.com/ct_ctac.html

Now, they have a christmass special where they will do free color upgrades. Tell me, are most 1.5" thick belts black or brown? Because I will upgrade to a brown color if that would go better with most products. Also, what do you think of their "C" clips?

Uncle Mike's, polymer sandwiched between layers of that durable nylon-based fake leather. Inexpensive ($40), durable, stiff and good looking.

my $10 is solid black leather (it measures almost 1/4" thick) looks nice with a simple buckle (only downside is it say DKNY Jeans on the buckle).

I had a Galco for a long time...fella shot himself trying quick draw and I used it to hold my shirt ( and other's shirts )as a pressure bandage en-route to ER...kinda figure all that stuff not much good once ER got through with it.

Currently Using a Eddie Bauer and LL Bean heavy, wide and thick belt(s).

Another Wal-Mart work belt fan here. I've bought Alessi and other "quality" belts before, but since I discovered the Wal-Mart work belts, I haven't bought anything else. They work just fine with a holster.

LOL, looks like off to Walmart it is!

Let me get this straight, it is a leather 1.5" belt? what color?

Eddie and Leon...

deliver to my door. I hate to shop...especially this time of year. I pride myself on not having been to WW or a Mall in loooong time.

Farmer's supply with Carhart, Dickkies and the like will have good leather ...especially if any tack stocked. I bet they are less infested...with this madness going on...

I just ordered a Don Hume for $45 delivered, from MidSouth Uniform.
I cruised Walmart first, but couldn't find work belts.

Are they supposed to be in men's clothing, tools, or what?
I looked all over.

I did see some heavy leather belts at mall last night, at American Eagle, and one of those custom belt makers that had a little kiosk set up.
The custom belts were $35 plus tax. They were thick, but not lined.
Not sure about the price of the AE belts.
For the price difference, I'll go with a dedicated pistol belt.

I would like to be able to find the work belts though.

There is no way that the work belts they sell at my local Wal-Mart would work as a gun belt. Way too thin and nowhere near stiff enough. I'm guessing they don't carry the sort that everybody here is talking about.

For value, it's hard to beat the Don Hume belts.

Most of the folks from the Walmart-work-belt crowd haven't ever had the pleasure of wearing a belt specifically made for carrying a gun so they don't have anything to compare to.

If all you are carrying is a small pistol, fine but if you are carrying a 24+ oz. steel 1911 around, get a real belt. There's a reason they cost over $50. You get what you pay for.
