SP101

I have a 3" SP101 I bought new in the '90s. It's my least favourite handgun...shoots very low and I hated the sights...hard to see. Also, too heavy and large for pocket carrry. Kept it around because it's a rugged little devil and I like Rugers.

Had an XS big dot front sight put on it which made for a really strange sight picture...but the front sight was easy to find. Ended up putting CT grips on it to make it passable.

For all that, it's my sister's favourite. I think she likes the CT sights.

I bought the gun probably around 2005 or so. It was a few years later that the .327 mag came out.

I really think the .327 magnum is the best cartridge for these little revolvers.

the option to shoot .32 acp, .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum and .327 mag and also get an extra shot offers quite a bit of versatility. If they would only offer a shotshell cartridge in .327 mag I would be in for another SP101.

My 70 year old mom now keeps the .32 H&R Mag SP101 as her bedside gun. I keep it loaded with .32 S&W long 98 grain lead round nose. She is certainly very comfortable shooting the gun. It’s sized right for her hands, doesn’t kick much with the 3” barrel and is powerful enough and reliable enough with the .32 longs centerfire ignition.

I bought the 2 1/4 snubby in stainless just because I thought I should own a revolver. It’s gorgeous I like to just look at it.

Agree on the 327 Federal for this gun in 3". I sold off SP101 3" guns in 32 H&R and 357 along with the 4" 327 Federal. I still have 32 SWL and 32 H&R ammo in case my niece goes shooting with me again. I should add though that I stopped using full power loads after selling my Single Sevens. The carry load is subsonic 100 grain.

Not going to post a pic, but I have one too. Been wanting one since a friend bought one, and with a little mad money I had, now have a stock 3" sitting in my gun safe. A bit heavy for my style of carry, and am still looking to find a workable holster without ending up with another box of unusable ones, so this thread is good.

My 2.25" SP101 is back to being my EDC. It was my EDC until I got my Sig P365.... but my Sig developed a RATTLE that I don't know what it is, and will be going off to my smith on Monday. I love my 101, it lives in a pocket holster, and I shoot it dead-nuts. Just don't have the capacity that my Sig does. My 101 with two reloads equals almost what my Sig does with just one mag. But, it's a comforting replacement until I can figure out what is rattling in my Sig.

Why wouldn't it work its a pretty beefy revolver but I'm not a gun smith or maybe a 41 special would make it more of a woods walker / S/D revolver
You could be right for a 5 round 41 Special, but the frame is not likely to be rated adequate for magnum pressures. My 41 Special is a GP100, but that was big enough for 6 rounds. Before 41 Special happens at the manufacturer level, ammo manufacturers have to get involved with a commercial ammo offering. We saw that with 327 Federal Magnum, for example. At least Starline offers the brass.

Do you see the front sight at all
Why yes...can't you see it? It's right there.

Seriously, no, but you don't need it...people look for it in the dot window if they aren't familiar with red dots and can be confused, but after getting a few cylinders under the belt...they shoot themselves in the foot.
