About a year ago I fell in love with the idea of putting a Sparc ll on a Remington 700. Didn't buy it. Now I"ve discovered the Romeo5. Which one would be a better choice for the Rem 700 shooting a 6.5x55 out to about 100 yds.

I like the idea of the auto off and motion on the Sig has for saving battery life, but I don't know if the Sig will mount to the 700 and be the right height and all.

Any advice and opinions are appreciated.

Please don't recommend any regular glass I don't like them.

The Romeo5 comes with a low mount and a high (AR cowitness) mount. You could use a combination of the low mount and a riser to achieve your desired height. Also, for another option, Vortex is coming out with a new red dot in their CrossFire line, probably be available early 2018, check out their site for details.

A cool thing is that sight height is not critical with a quality dot sight. I would go with the low mount for the Romeo and call it good.

I believe the Romeo will be of discernibly higher quality than the Sparc II. My eyes aren’t good enough anymore to shoot with any precision at 100 yards with a red dot. There are many who can and do.

The Romeo is re-badged Holosun wrapped in a Sig designed body. It is a cheap Chinese optic being sold by Sig as if they made it. Pretty much on the same plane as the Sparc II. The Sparc II has a better warranty IIRC Sig only has a 2 or 3 year warranty on the electronics. If you want to step up to something of real quality look at the Aimpoint, Trijicon or the Eotech.

Does anyone know what the field of view would be at 100yds for the Romeo?
Sign is right about 100 yards. Sorry, hard to hold AK and phone real well, as sick as I am at the moment. Just got my Romeo5 from Brownells yesterday, for $130. Also, lifetime warranty on body, 5 years on glass and electronics.

The sight is small, which can be a good thing, if you are used to using both eyes(which is the "correct" way to utilize a red dot). Before this, my only other decent red dot was a Vortex StrikeFire, which is much bigger. I still have no problem picking up the dot with the Romeo.
