Spats McGee’s Traveling Knife #1: Kershaw Volt SS

At the moment, I have Spats' knife.

I didn't want to carry it at work, just didn't want to take a chance that it might get damaged. That and some people have sticky fingers.

I had to change the carrying clip to tip up, made for better carrying and faster deployment of the blade. Puts the flipper next to your index finger right out of your pocket.

The clip was easy to change, I have the Kershaw torx tool for my Kershaw knives.

Then I decided to clean the knife a little bit, the knife came sharp and I thought I was doing good keeping all my parts away from it. Put a drop of oil on the pivot and while working it in some... I let go of the blade and barely hit it with my finger!

So I guess I drew first blood.:neener:

Ugh, so I was going to send it out this morning...

Driving home last night an SUV decided it wanted to drive over my car...

Then I wake up to the wife yelling about my car having tire tracks down the side of it....

I look at the board for my job, yep, the usual suspects all laid off for the weekend, again...

So, here I sit back at work, tire tracks down the side of my car, wife pissed, still holding onto the knife that I should've sent out two weeks ago.

First world problems, I has them!

I do like the knife and will probably pick one up, it's lighter than most that I carry. I thought the smooth scales would slip in your hand but fingers seem to grip them well.

Oh, no! Man, please believe me when I say: All that crap you have to take care of now really should take priority over mailing the traveling knife.

I made it to the PO yesterday afternoon and reluctantly sent @Spats McGee traveling knife on its way to @TarDevil.
Pm sent to him to keep an eye out for it.

A quick review on the knife:
I found it to be a very sharp, useful, general purpose blade that is large enough for emergency defensive use if needed.
Il like the size.
I like the weight.
It felt sturdy in the hand, and ergonomic.
It is a quick one handed opener. Oriented with the pocket clip tip up when I got it. (The way I like it). At opens with a quick flip of the index finger like switching on a light. It opens with authority and a solid *snap*.
My only criticism is the stainless scales are quite slick, but their sturdiness is a trade-off.
I wish the pocket clip was set up for a little deeper carry in the pocket. I dont like seeing the butt if the knife above my pocket.

I loved the knife enough to order one for myself from www.bladehq.com. I even had my screen name engraved on it!

Thanks @Spats McGee for a great idea, it was fun.

Went looking for a Volt, ended up with two of them.:)

If anyone that's part of the thread, likes the Volt and absolutely must have one. I will give you the extra one.

Both are used, the one that's in very used condition I will keep. The other is free to another member that likes it as much as the rest of us.

Here's Both.

You're too kind. I would take one, but wait...... 20220927_073503.jpg
I already have one!

I am reluctantly ready to let the little knife go for another trip.

I concur with nearly everything @Armored farmer said about the knife. I'm ready to buy one, if anyone can clarify our laws...
Apparently it's illegal to pocket carry a spring assisted knife. Am I good with this knife?

Thank you again, @Spats McGee ! It was fun getting this knife (and the added nice surprise from @Armored farmer !)

@SteadyD , if you'll PM your address it will be on the way.

Did y'all get your pumpkins carved, @TarDevil?
Unfortunately, not yet.

Last week I was diagnosed with a somewhat aggressive prostate cancer that needs to be cooked out, so I've been zipping between scanners and doctors while my wife holds down the school. We may yet get them done before I send the knife along. I'll suggest it Thursday, which is a down day for me, medically.
