I had a friend who, when he moved away from Virginia, sold me a Beretta 70S .22lr he knew I'd had my eye on. It was in outstanding shape, had flat grips and was like new. He gave it to me for a hundred bucks. I immediately sent it off to Mahovsky's to be hard chromed. About three days later, Ron called me and I immediately thought there was a problem. But he said he just called to let me know what a beautiful gun it was.You have a good friend there. Gave you a real deal. Good friends like that should be appreciated. And enjoy the Speed Six.
When he returned it, it looked like a brand new stainless gun. I took it to the range, shot several clips of ammo through it and there were zero malfunctions. The finish is self lubricating and tough as nails. Even the inside of the barrel is plated, which means the wear and tear virtually stops. I was able to pick up additional springs, magazines and two extra firing pins. Then I found a beautiful holster for it at the local surplus store. It has a flap, a place for a spare magazine and is remarkably stylish. Anyway, I never would have done any of that had I paid full price for it! If I'd been a kid and had this setup as a toy, I'd be beside myself.
