You have a good friend there. Gave you a real deal. Good friends like that should be appreciated. And enjoy the Speed Six.
I had a friend who, when he moved away from Virginia, sold me a Beretta 70S .22lr he knew I'd had my eye on. It was in outstanding shape, had flat grips and was like new. He gave it to me for a hundred bucks. I immediately sent it off to Mahovsky's to be hard chromed. About three days later, Ron called me and I immediately thought there was a problem. But he said he just called to let me know what a beautiful gun it was.

When he returned it, it looked like a brand new stainless gun. I took it to the range, shot several clips of ammo through it and there were zero malfunctions. The finish is self lubricating and tough as nails. Even the inside of the barrel is plated, which means the wear and tear virtually stops. I was able to pick up additional springs, magazines and two extra firing pins. Then I found a beautiful holster for it at the local surplus store. It has a flap, a place for a spare magazine and is remarkably stylish. Anyway, I never would have done any of that had I paid full price for it! If I'd been a kid and had this setup as a toy, I'd be beside myself.

Beautiful gun Confederate.

Yes buying a gun retail and then throwing more cash at it is something I rarely do.

But a used gun at a very good price? That is the way to go.

And you to had a very good friend. I bet that gun stays with you till you have a grandson (or granddaughter) to pass it on.

Good looking chrome job on Beretta

Confederate, that is a great looking chrome job on that little Beretta

My mind is still stuck on the concept of finding a "good deal" at a gun show.

I'm having difficulty conceiving such a thing.

There are "good deals" out there at gunshows Madcap, but they are getting harder and harder to find. Basically, one has to get there early and hope you come across a good deal before someone else does and don't pass it by to look some more thinking it will
be there later because in will not. Been there. Done that.

Ever been to a gun show in Minnesota? :(

The hell, you say! I'm gonna be buried with my guns (and my cat) on the off chance the ancient Egyptians were right. Let the little nimrods get their own guns! They'd probably sell them and buy plastic handguns, anyway. The way the federal Department of Education is raising kids these days, only the smartest will be working and the rest will be voting for crooks who will distribute the smart ones' wealth! At that point the government will be turning your nice gun collection into manhole covers!

Besides, if the Hindus are right, I'm going to need those guns to protect me from all the cow gods I've eaten over the span of my life. You've got to hedge all your bets. If the atheists are right, that means that Nancy Pelosi and all of our guns (and us) were all part of the same compressed energy that formed the Big Bang. Get your head around that some night when the lights are out and you're staring at the ceiling!

But you're right...it is a beautiful gun.

No Sir, I have not.
I can only speak to the ones in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma

I've never had the pleasure, but I'm guessing they're probably bigger. The biggest gun show in Minnesota is probably the Minnesota Weapons Collectors Association's... they do one a month, but the big ones are twice a year in one of our state fair buildings. It's only about 500 tables, a fair chunk of which aren't guns at all.

Confederate,

You are tempting me! I have a 2 1/2 S&W 19-5 Combat Magnum and I can see it done like yours. Just take off the back sight, and it chromed.

So who did the work?

Thanks,

Deaf
