I am wanting to make up some loads for this projectile for use in my 308. Anyone have any data or know where to find data for this?

I have rl15, blc2, varget, 4064, and N133 powders.

Use jacketed data for the weight projectile of those Speer HC's. Varget, BLC2, and IMR-4064 are all acceptable powders for .308 win. in general, but can't be more specific with the limited information. But RL15 may be too fast for that cartridge. Best bet is to either buy some books, or go to the free published data that is easily found online.

You didn't say anything about the weight of that HC, so it's impossible for anyone here to even attempt to provide some second had data.

Thanks for the info.

Actually, I did say 130 gr for the weight.

I am asking the question here because I have had no luck finding data on-line. The bullet is actually designed mainly for 30-30 I think which may be why I cannot find 308 data for it.

If its designed for .30-30 chances are it has a thinner jacket. That could cause some problems if you intend to use them for hunting. All of those powders should be just fine but their listed velocities for 130gr bullets are about 300-500fps faster in .308 than they are in .30-30 (not sure about the N133). If you're set on trying to use them for hunting you could try to find some H4895 and make up some reduced loads to get them down to .30-30 velocities. You could try reduced loads with those powders but that may be unsafe.

Speer # 13 lists a start charge of 46.0 Grs RL15 for 2756 FPS and a max charge of 50.0C (Compressed) for 3062 FPS from a 22" Rem 700 loaded at 2.615 OAL.

They list 44.0 to 48.0C (Compressed) of 4064 for 2613 to 2903 FPS.

Thanks Walkalong.

I have a Lee and Hornady manual but didn't have a Speer manual and couldn't find info online. Just ordered a Speer manual for future use.

If you run into this sort of problem in the future, just bear in mind that one 130 grain .308" bullet is much like another, and not enough different from a 125 grain .308" bullet to matter at the starting load level. That is what the boring fine print about "starting loads" and "working up" is about. You don't have to have a "recipe" matching your components in all respects.

I don't know what gamestalker is talking about, Re15 is one of the half dozen powders best matched to .308 WCF.

The thin jacket will matter only if you take a hunting shot at close enough range for it to blow up and not penetrate. After all, a .308 at 300 yards is no different from a .30-30 at 100 yards, or some such relationship.

I realized that about the bullet weight similarities but was concerned about the COL on the short bullet.

I use Re15 in most of my 308 loads with excellent results. In fact, I seem to remember reading that Re15 was used when the 308 was originally designed.
