Hey Fellas
Sorry about the mix up with seirra and speer.
I got a deal $26.00 for 500 un lubed 200gr speer lswc hard cast.
Going to use them in a 45lc want to load a box with black and or pydrox. I have a few questinos can you use to much bp? I mean if it fits and col is good without majorly packing the powder. And lube I understand is best to use I don't own a lube sizer what can I use off the shelve. And what's the best way to apply and while we are here gonna need to.lube for smokeless powder. I am out of town in a place with a sportsman whs that I should be able to get what I need once I know what that is.
I have loaded zillinos of rifle and a boat load pistol fmjs this lead and lube is new to me and very intersted in getting good at it and like all the reloading I have done in the past here is my first stop.
Thanx
And MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Be sure to read up on the procedures and safety needed when loading with Black Powder. Black is a true explosive and not as forgiving as smokeless powder. Your measure should be specifically designed for Black Powder with non sparking brass parts, and long drop tube, otherwise you are playing with a hand grenade.

Bullets should be lubed with a Black powder specific lube like SPG that helps remove the fouling.

Black powder loads in cartridges needs to be compressed by the bullet, no air space allowed. Typically what the case holds with the bullet seated compressed on top is your load. Black Powder is loaded by volume and not so nit picking grain weight.

The Speer bullets aren't unlubed. They're tumble lubed, but even so, they're not suited to black powder loading as is. They will foul the bore pretty quickly with tumble lube, as there's nothing in it to soften the black powder fouling left behind in the bore.

You can smear some Crisco in the lube groove of the bullets, but that's going to be messy, to say the least. SPG lube has as one of it's ingredients something similar to Crisco, but is slightly stiffer in composition. I have one lube sizer set up with SPG, but I hate sizing bullets with it, since it's so messy.

If it were me, I'd just use the Speer bullets for .45 acp.

Hope this helps.

Fred
