I need a spotting scope stand, don't need to spend a lot of money. What I'm looking for is one that will allow me to use it in prone, standing and everything in between, including sitting in a chair. We used to use some exactly like what I'm describing when I shot for the JROTC that were like this but I have no idea what brand they were. Any suggestions woulf be greatly appreciated!

What Colt said. Typically the tripods that come with spotting scopes (if any) are just over glorified camera tripods. The tripod that came with my scope only has one difference to it than the tripod my wife got for her camera.

What Colt has said. Look in the resale shops of ebay for a used one. Also check estate sales in your area many times camera equipment is for sale there.

I am using it for BPCR matches. And a camera tripod isn't really what I'm after, unless you are taljing about a different tripod than what I am used to. The stand I'm talking about has a tripod-ish base but is mostly just a long pole that you can slide the scope bracket up and down on.

Sounds like the bases for work lights that we use in construction. Pawn shop and a small field modification.

I know you're wanting to limit extra gear, but you may be better off getting two different pods. Most of the ones I've seen commercially you could use in a chair won't hardly go low enough to sit on the ground, much less go prone.

They may be out there, though. If it was from your ROTC days, have you checked any military surplus stores?

That thing looks STOUT! That's the first I've seen of one like that.

If you know someone hand at metal work, they might be able to craft you one using a guitar stand as a base. Without some good reinforcing, though, it would never last as long.
