Hey guys,
Most of you know me but anyway i Live in NJ and have a family in Florida as well, but i rarely go there due to not wanting to fly. But ill get over it for this.

All of my pistols are 5'' barrels and im a big guy 6' 1'' 280lbs but i want something a little smaller to carry when i go down there for the winter this year.

I contacted Springfield Armory but have gotten no response yet but im sure they will soon. I want to have a custom shop pistol made for my ccw needs.

-A Springfield Armory Loaded Champion, Bobtailed and a few other touches I think this bobtailed would be the coolest thing ever.

Then throw on the kimber covert lasergrips or some black and green VZ's and i might just be scared to shoot it, it'll be so beautiful!!!

I think it will come out great, Should ring up around $1000 and it will be semi-Custom in my mind.

What do you guys think?

its on theyre order form for the custom shop. its like $2__.00 i forget

Caught me before the edit. :) Yeah I just checked it out, they do the bobtail for $225 according to the price sheet I saw, that sheet was from 09, so could be a little different today.

Stuff that i felt wasnt touched on enough with my last 1911 from them.some stuff they do already because its a loaded model, i always make them double check

-Polish feed ramps-Free
-smooth serrations on trigger-free
-fit slide and mag relase-$190
-tritium night sights-$135
-Install full length guide rod-$50
-Fit trigger- $50
-Bobtail- $225
$700
+
$650 for custom work
=
$1,350 + 50 for transfer fee = $1400 and im Happy as a clam

is it reliable now? if so, why polish the feed ramp?

full length guide rods do nothing, but if you really want one, you can certainly pop that in there yourself.

you can install the trigger, mag release, and slide stop yourself via youtube vids for instruction. or you can pm me :)

JMO of course. just tryin to save you money. seems like a lot of money for simple upgrades that you can do yourself, or are unnecessary. (i bet SA was happy to punch up the total on that lol)

bobtailng of course is another story, the frame needs to be milled/filed, and refinished afterwards, so a good smith would be recommended if you haven't done it.

It's very reliable now. I sent it back to SA the first time because the mag release was to stiff and had to be resized as well as the trigger. Where the serrations actually cut my finger open. When it came back it became my most prized possession until I brainstormed this plan

I think they told me no lol
Thank you for your interest in Springfield Custom pistols! The custom shop does not build the factory handguns, but if you choose to modify it with additional features such as a bobtail, the dealer can special order the handgun. Estimated delivery time for a new special order1911-A1 is approx. 12 months from the date the order, required non-refundable deposit, and dealer’s FFL are received in our office. Suggested retail for a PX9149LP with a botail would be $1295.

If you have questions on this quote, or the other custom models and services available through our shop, please contact our office at any time.

Not for naught, but since the gun is a Champion and therefore has a bull barrel, I don't think that a FLGR would be possible. I may be wrong, but since there's no bushing and a reverse recoil plug is needed, a FLGR might be difficult to work in there.

LMAO! i've talked to deb before, it's her job to say no lol

doesn't look like she understands that you want to send in a gun you already own for some work.

I dont have the gun yet, and its impossible to find.

1>Springfield PX9149LP Sprgfld 45ACP CHMPN 4" BITONE OD
or 2nd choice if i had to
2>Springfield PX9142LP Sprgfld 45ACP CHMPN STS LDD NS

oh! i misunderstood lol i thought you had the gun and wanted to send it in. yeah, deb's right then.

so, just find one locally/onlne, buy it, then send it in. they'll do anything you want to it as long as your check doesn't bounce :)

For the price of the gun plus custom shop modifications, why not just have the Custom Shop build one from the ground up...or get a Les Baer.

My TGO1 from the Springfield Custom Shop is the finest 1911 I've ever fondled or shot.

And that includes Colt, Wilson, Baer, and Nighthawk.

Good luck!

Thats what i want, but they wouldnt do it. I dont know how to make them understand this

I found one in stainless for $900 in orlando. What do you guys think? pull the trigger?

(in the back of my head im saying kimber pro covert ll for $400 more >< )

A base model Custom Carry with no checkering can be had for around $1700. Might be worth pushing up into that category. But, the wait is 12-15 months now, from what I hear (for a full custom shop gun).

I love my 9mm Custom Shop Operator. I waited 11 months when I ordered it in 2008...

Since their timeline does not meet yours are there any alternatives you might entertain? If finances are fair you might consider a factory bobbed model from another maker that you could sell or trade when your build is finished.

I didn't take the letter to mean no, rather it explained that a Loaded Champion cannot be built by the Custom Shop, only modified. As I understand it the slide rails are already finish milled when the frames are received and therefore cannot be fit as precisely as an unmilled frame. SA's custom builds truly are which is why the production guns can't be afforded the same label. If they were, Springfield would have to change their name to Kimber 8~O
