How can a person get the dimensions for the drum on a Traditions Springfield Hawken without taking it out first? I have contacted Traditions and they have not replied back....go figure.

I'm not sure which dimensions you're referring to.
Are you looking for the thread specifications?
Dixie lists some of the dimensions for their CVA drum which may or may not be exactly the same as the Traditions.

Body is 1/2", thread size is 10 X 1.25mm. Drilled and tapped for 6 X 1mm nipple.

http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=5800

Track of the Wolf lists their CVA drum as being:

12.5mm diameter, 10-1.25mm thread, drilled for 6-1mm nipple

http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Search.aspx?Search=drum&PageSize=25&Page=1

For reference, 12.5 millimeters = 0.492125984 inches

Deer Creek Products [765-525-6181] sells both CVA & Traditions parts. But maybe every dimension can't be assumed without removing the nipple in question because depending on when the gun was made and the exact model, there could have been some variations over the years.

Thank you articap. I actually got an e-mail from traditions finally that stated that they will replace it for $75.00, but would not give me the dimensions.

I guess the next step is take it out and order a new one.

Traditions won't sell you the drum...I know from personal experience and neither will CVA but Gun Parts Corp will. Beware though, there are several different types and even though one that GPC sells says it will work in all CVA rifles...it will not!!!!
What's wrong with the one you have?
