I have an older TRP. It has always had problems not staying open after the last round is fired. I sent it back to Springfield and they told me there were no issues found and yet the problem persists. That was about 5 years ago.

Sometimes the slides does stay open. I've used Wilson, Tripp, Ed Brown, McCormick, and Colt magazines. When the slide does stay open, about half the time the slide will slam forward when I hit the mag release. I sent it back to Springfield about 3 years ago with this problem. They said no issues found and the problem still persists.

Now occasionally the slide slams forward when I insert a fresh magazine. I sent it back to Springfield and got it back this morning. I took it out to the range and you guessed it. The slide does not stay open every time after the last round is fired, when it does stay open it occasionally slams forward when you release the magazine, and occasionally the slide slams forward when inserting a fresh magazine. Springfield again says no issues found and added "if mag is inserted with excessive force the slide will drop". I have never used excessive force.

How or what do I need to do to get these issues resolved? Can they be resolved? Any ideas or suggestions? I've given up on Springfield so they are not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This gun is really accurate and a joy to shoot, but these issues drive me nuts and my local range won't let me compete with it, they say it is unsafe in this condition. Thanks.

Several things to look at.
How far up will the slide stop lug go into the cut in the slide when pushing up with your thumb? Does it go to the top of the cut or stop short? How well does the back face of the stop mate with the back face of the slide cut? Is the notch in the slide peened by the stop? Does the slide stop go as far up with the slide on as it does with the slide off the frame? You might have to put a piece of tape on the side of the frame and mark a line on the tape to compare. Got pics you can share?
How well does the slide stop lug mate with the magazine follower? Does the follower ever jump the slide stop lug? Did you know that you can tune the follower engagement tab up/down/in/out to mate with the slide stop?
How centered is your magazine well in the frame? Sometimes they are off center enough to cause issues with slide lock back.

All of those things can be dealt with to get the gun functioning correctly. They are not always obvious if you don't know to look for them. Identifying the source of the issue is key to the proper fix.
