After having gone through an anxiety ridden process I decided to sell a duplicate 1911 in favor of getting a 2nd xd mod 2 to match. Having lived with this decision now for going on about a year now, I can say I'm glad I did what I did!

It all started when I sold off a Taurus pt145 and swore that was it for them after they refused to confirm that they would send it back to me during the recall and only give me half of what I paid for it. I always wanted to upgrade, and I ended up putting more money into the equation after selling the pt, and got the first mod 2. I liked it so much I ended up deciding the 1911 was beautiful, but just sat in the safe unused. So that's what moved me to get into a 2nd xd.

The xd mod 2 in 45 is such a small package, with a round I'm comfortable with. One is my edc, the other sits next to it at night in the drawer with a streamlight tr4 attached and the larger magazine. The benefit of moving to the xd and selling the 1911 was weight, more capacity, and soooo much easier to conceal carry. I also liked being able to interchange guns with the wife to have both of us using the same magazines.

Why do I love this handgun so much? Well I guess it has everything I need. Peace of mind with the grip safety, which is passive and natural as the 1911. Safer to me vs not having it. Accuracy is better than I'm capable of, I don't shoot often but carry a lot. I've only put about 250 rounds through each gun over this last year, but the recoil is minimal and the gun hits where I aim it. Both examples I have are perfect in fit and finish.

So overall, as a subcompact the XD MOD 2 rocks! I couldn't be happier. It's a trustworthy gun.

I had one. After being introduced to Arthur, I resolved to shooting mainly 9mm.
I was at the range with my son-in-law and he was shooting my XD 45 Sub-Compact. He was shooting pretty well with it and didn't have a gun of his own so, I gave it to him along with 2 spare mags and a holster.
I still have plenty of 45's so, I don't miss it too much.
This is the one I gave him.

That was very kind of you!

Looks like you have a sound plan in terms of familiarization with having two guns but only one platform to know and use. Though I would be hard pressed to ever want to sell one of my 1911s, you found something that was lighter, more compact, easier to carry concealed, and capable f some very nice accuracy. I say that's a win/win for you all the way around!

Just posted a pic of the 1911 twins that I formally separated. Good thing it went to my best friend so if he ever goes to sell it I'm first on the list.

What are the differences?

They refined everything between the old xd line up and then into the mod 2.

In the new models trigger guard is cut, you get fiber optic sights, better egos on the grips, smoother trigger, and is a smaller/lighter package
