Anyone had the issues I see all over youtube with the XDS not going back into battery, and the light primer strikes? I have really been wanting one and watched hickok45 shoot one flawlessly. whats been your experience?

I have experienced difficulty racking the gun to chamber a round i.e. insert loaded mag, rack slide, slide does not chamber the round. Other than that the gun shoots flawlessly and is amazingly accurate.

I've had the same problem, until I read, and confirmed myself, it is easy to not get quite all the way back when slingshotting it. Try releasing the slide with the catch and it will work 100%

I seriously doubt that I could get back on target quickly with the .45
It was very snappy.

Hopefully a XDs turns up in 9mm soon.

I have one. Love it. 250 rounds so far not one Ftf. Sling shotting will get easier once broken in. Mine works fine but you have to do it with some muscle when new. Otherwise this gun is great. Get talon grips and its an easy shooter.

They are already out sawgrass. Sportsmans have been getting them in periodically, as well as Academy and others.

I have one and shoot lead through it all the time. really sweet piece, could not be any more pleased with it.

A friend of mine has one. He hasn't had any problems with it, but I found it less pleasant to shoot than my .357 LCR, for what that's worth.

Mine has been 100% reliable except for the one range session when I had installed a reduced striker spring....which was promptly removed upon getting back home.

The trigger is better than the factory triggers on the other 3 Springfields I have....but it is not where I want it to be. Trigger evaluations are very subjective to say the least.

It does have conventional rifling.

I've tried 5 or 6 different bullet styles in mine....all were 100% reliable, including rounds loaded in the 70's, using 195 gr SWC sitting over 3.5 gr Bullseye. If it shoots that, it will shoot most anything, IMO.

That all being said, I totally enjoy shooting it, and will be doing so in about 10 more hours when I get to the range.

My XDs45 review.

I've shot just over 700 rounds through my XDs in .45. Never had a failure with factory ammo. My reloads haven't always worked as well but I'm new to the ammunition manufacturing side of things. Use a good grip, don't get gunk in the striker channel and you should be good.

I do experience trigger slapping with some "faster" ammo, which eventually leads to a blood blister. I just avoid ammo that does that. (Blazer, oddly, was the worst about that)

Conventional rifling.
Slingshotting gets easier.
Recoil recovery is surprisingly fast due to the short barrel and light weight.
NO light strikes with factory ammo, but HAVE had some with my reloads WITH HIGH PRIMERS. High primers WILL give you trouble.
Accuracy is unbelievable from such a short gun.

My ONLY difficulty has been racking the slide far enough to eject a live round. Not a SD problem I wouldn't think.

As you may can tell, I love mine.

Well I just got home with my bi tone XDS so I will have to shoot it today and see how it performs for myself. Thanks for the info

Sorry to piggyback on someone roses thread, but I'm trying to decide on a compact pistol myself. How does 45 perform from such a short barrel? I'm a huge fan of the big bullet but if velocity suffers drastically I'm concerned about penitration

hickok45 does a test ammo fired out of a full size 1911 and XDS. The in the video his chronograph malfunctions but if you read the notes on the video he tell you the velocity difference and I think it was somewhere around 50f.p.s

I just finished shooting 50 rds through my XDS and I love it. It shoots great no malfunctions and pretty gently recoil considering 45acp in such a small package. I just ordered an Alabama pocket holster hoping this will be a good pocket carry gun when wearing cargo shorts with bigger pockets.

+1.

Same problem until I found the same answer. No problems since.

reat shooter. Also, even if you don't think you need it, try switching to the smaller backstrap. Made it a better shooter for me.

Just home a couple hours ago from sharing a nice range session with a good friend. While most of my time was spent doing presentation drills with my XD9, I had to spend some time with my XDs45. Another range session with zero issues....100% reliable operation. :)

I use to have the .45 and now have the 9mm. I've not experiance any trouble with either of them. I also know 5 or 6 other people that have them. Their experiance has also been postive.
