My thought: Sucks to live in Canada; or California for that matter, but that's another issue....
Kidding aside, I believe we (Americans) are still regulated by the USPSA rulebook. Although I have heard rumors that USPSA will adopt nearly all of the 2004 IPSC Rulebook, I do not believe they will. If USPSA disallowed Glocks and XDs, the majority of the US production shooters would be relegated to shooting Limited 10. I wouldn't count on it happening in USPSA. I can't quantify it, but I would venture to guess that much of USPSA's membership growth is coming from production shooters. Kinda goes back to the USPSA vs. IPSC difference on production barrel length and trigger pull. USPSA refined their rules to allow the G34 and G35 to be allowed in production class.
On the other hand, with all of the new gun models and new technology coming out, there has to be a line drawn somewhere to define the mechanical definition of DA/SA vs. SA only. Ayoob's "bio-mechanical" bullcrap doesn't do it for me.
I've heard quite a few shooters give the XD ample praises but I have yet to shoot one.
