Just wanted to pass along a good deal on a Spyderco folder that I recently found. Some of the hunters in the bunch might be interested.

Sierra Trading Post has the Spyderco Impala for roughly $60. If I remember right, plain edge is $59.97, and plain edge with gut hook is $63.97. It normally retails for $100 to $110.

Also, as my wife has taught me, there are coupon sites out there where you can get even more off at select internet vendors. In this case, I found a link for another 10% off if you order over $100. I bought some sunglasses, some shoes, and a PE Impala (which totalled over $100), so I only paid $54 for the knife.

Looks like a good folding hunter with a nice belly and good size. VG-10 steel is good stuff, and I love G-10 scales. Not quite as crazy about the liner lock now that Axis locks and compression locks are out there, but all but one of the Spydercos I've owned with liners were rock solid. (And Spyderco quickly made that bad one right.)

Links for the interested:
http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ (Just type "impala" in the search box.)

Nice shopping.

Spyderco has a marvelous tendency to put out great knife designs and an unfortunate tendency to drop them after a year or 2. Or perhaps it's not so bad an idea. After a while an interesting knife has "had it's day" and the slow movers should make way for new products?
