I must admit to a real curiosity about the Razel tool. Some discussion about the smaller models but not so much about the largest: the SS7 Razel.

Anyone out there bought one; used one; have any experience with one? Would care to read any and and all comments on this tool.:p
 
Yes, yes and yes.

Not my favorite of the three and the "glass break" carbide tip is an idiotic feature since it gouges you almost any way you try to carry the thing.

It chops and digs well, but the Beckers do that for a fraction of the price.
 
It would be impossible to find a knife with these grind line quality, handle materials quality, fit and finish that comes anywhere close to this knife for the money. The glass breaker is easily removed for those that do not want/require it.

It chops alright...
It cut nylon of any thickness...
Has the mass to carry through most materials in a single pass.
Comes with a great sheath.

Beckers....fraction of the price....and knife.

One thing I'm certain of-

In this day and age quality knives are a proverbial "dime a dozen" at any price range.

That's half the problem of being a knife knut-too many choices.

I mean no disrespect but felt it was just a wee bit of an exaggeration.

As a general rule, I would tend to agree with this statement. There are so many choices, at so many different price points, that it's hard to really settle for a "best". In many ways, we are living in a golden age for gunnies/knife knuts.
 
Can no one think of anything better to put on the butt of a knife than the glass breaker? The last innovative thing I saw was the compass. Why not a bingo marker? A back scratcher? Anything?:confused:

Why put anything at all other than a lanyard loop? Knifemakers, in my opinion, go far overboard in adding jagged edges and pointy areas that don't belong on the handle of a knife.

Think about it this way: when we have work done on our pistols, we typically want them de-horned, with all burrs and hard planes removed. Why, then, should a knifemaker waste his time and ours adding such areas of discomfort to the handle of a knife?
 
Exactly. I can't imagine a monster car wreck where the one piece of glass you must extract the victim through is intact and requires breaking with your rescue knife.

Sometimes a knife is most beautiful when it is only a knife.
 
Maybe it's because deep down inside every knife secretly wants to be a Swiss Army Knife?
