There is a massive manhunt on the East Side of St. Paul, MN, this morning as officers from several Depts. search for two suspects that shot and killed Sgt. Jerry Vick around 2:20 am, while working undercover on E. 7th St. in St. Paul. :(
I graduated from high school with Jerry, and my Dad was on his oral boards. (He asked me if I thought Jerry would be a good cop, and I said that he'd be a very good one.) I am shocked and saddened at Jerry's death, he was a good cop, well loved in the community. When we were teenagers, he was the guy that stopped the inevitable fights at the parties. He once found a bank deposit with several thousand dollars cash in it, and turned it in without thought of reward. He had Two Medals of Valor, one of them for saving a one-year old from a burning building. Please let your prayers for him and his family join mine. :(

Heard that this morning on the radio. That's sad.

They said they some suspects in custody, but can't confirm that they have THE suspect. He was shot in an alley, his partner returned fire, but the shooter escaped.

And Jerry Vick joins the honorable cadre of Archangels that guard the throne of the Almighty. The thin blue line gets a little thinner. Thank you Sgt. for going into harms way.
