Just took my stabilizer off my bow, cuz it wouldn't fit in my new case with it on, so thought, what the heck, why do I even need this thing, since my bow still falls backward upon release (I'd have to have about 3 times the weight up there to actually balance). So I go out and shoot a little with no stablizer; dead nuts accurate; no difference; if anything, better now. Just another thing to add weight and bulk and catch on brush, which I can do without...just my .02.

Most of the newer generation stabilizers seemed to be designed more to absorb vibration and for noise reduction than for weight and balance. I use a Doinker on my Hoyt.
i don't use one - never have, so i don't know what i'm missing.
i do know i despise weight when i am hunting, so anything that is not essential, doesn't go - and my bow fires just fine w/ no stabilizer, so i don't take a stabilizer along.

Stabilizer does two things. It adds weight to the front side of the bow. If you shoot open hand, the bow tends to balance on the top of your hand better so you don't " grab" at the shot and end up steering the arrow
As above, the stabilizer also cushions jump and vibration. Again, if you shoot more open hand, the bow tends not to jump out of your hand
Like everything else, if you don't like it or don't need it, don't use it. Just makes the bow more forgiving and sometimes quieter.
