Have a STAR model B pistol 9x19mm. Need to replace grip screws. Went to hardware store only to find it's not super common screw size. So I measured and assuming it's metric came up with 3.5x0.6mm.

Does anyone know if 3.5x0.6mm is for sure the correct size for these pistol grip screws?

Either that or American Standard 6-40 seemed close too, but I would assume they are metric cause it was made in Spain likely in the 1930's. I am keeping the original screws but making larger pistol grip for it and would like a longer screw... So reordering the factory originals even if I could find them will not work.

You might want to take the gun to your local gunsmith. He may have what you need in his hardware kit.

This may be useful to you:
Grip Screws – Known to work on the model B, but probably on the A, P, and many others as well. The panels can be secured with 3.5x6x6 metric screws, though reports are they are bit long so need to be filed to clear the magazine when done. Be careful with head selection. If you skulk around industrial suppliers you may be able to find ones wide enough to fit, look right and not damage the grip panels as well.

For future reference and Star parts:

Note the mentioned standard metric screws may be a little long and require filing down. I suggest when you buy the screws that you purchase a few nuts or at least one nut. Run the nut all the way up on the screw and then cut or file the screw. Now back the nut off using the nut to "chase" the threads where you filed or cut.

Hope that helps.

Why not just use M1911 screws? They are a tiny bit small but will work fine and the head is the right size.

As noted above, make sure they don't protrude into the mag well and interfere with the magazine.

Thank you Ron!

Saw the website never found the paragraph where it listed the grip screw size. But looked on your link harder and saw it.

Thank you!
