I bought a Star B, 9MM, about eight years ago. I didn't get a holster or spare magazine, but I love the gun. It is well finished, and functions just so smoothly. If I didn't already have one, I would rush out to get to take that deal, in fact, I am considering a second one as my Christmas gift to myself this year.

I just bought a BM for $159 because I couldn't find a Model B.
Now it's too close to Christmas to make any more purchases

Hmmm, I better watch myself. That price is inexpensive, I got some bucks (a little bit) not enough to buy one of my higher end desirables, but I always have this intense craving to buy another handgun. So, you say it's pretty good quality, eh?

This thread started by Oleg has some experiences with the Star Model B. I cut my teeth on one as a wee lad, but when I was a bit older I had an ND with it when my finger was off the trigger, as outlined in that thread. The gentleman whose hearing was damaged did as well. I'm not trying to dissuade you, but be catious and maybe have a 'smith check things out before trusting it completely.

Armedbear - Gungripguys on of most auction sites can set you up with a pair of wood grips. They made me a BEAUTIFUL set of Bocote grips for mine. $20.00 shipped if I recall correctly.

HTH,
Mike

Someone's gonna get someone hurt with sloppy information.
Check your facts.
Star B's are Luger.
Star Super B's are Luger.(99% of them are,a very small quantity are largo's)
Star Super Modello or A's are Largo.(FAC offered some conversion barrels years ago but they have dried up)

(NO ruffled feathers please, everybody mistypes a letter once in a while.)

Hello. The one Star Super B that I bought when I bought the Model B that I still own was in 9mm Luger.

Best.

Will Turner's accempt my Credit Card order and ship to my FFL? If so, I'll be ordering one! Love my BM but I want a full size 9mm 1911 style single stack gun without paying an arm and a leg for it! Miltary Gun Supply has these for $250 so there is room for ordering with shipping and xfer fee especially if I can avoid sales tax.

Here is my Model A which i luckily found a 9mm luger barrel and mag for last year. So now it's an A and a B. The grips are from www.gungripguys.com birdseye maple. Oh the finish is much nicer in person the scanner just made it look worn.

I have a couple of Model A supers. They are very nicely made and the 9mm largo round has a lil more power to it than the 9x19. They are well made and sit nicely in the hand. The only downside is they are a bit heavy for the caliber.
Model B supers are the same except for the chambering.

I just bought one of the Turners deals today. Hopefully it is decent. One thing I noticed is the gun can only have the safety applied while the hammer is down. I have heard conflicting reports on if this is normal or not. Hopefully someone can clear that up. It's not a big deal I suppose as I won't be carrying this cun cocked and locked but I'm curious.

I remember on my old commercial chromed Star BM the hammer sometimes had to be pulled back a little to apply the thumb safety which bugged me a lot and after a kinchen table gunsmith butchered it to try to make it work like a standard 1911 pistol I gave up on it. The three pistols I looked at all had the same oddoty. Hopefully a good cleaning and breaking in will fix it if it is actually able to have the hammer applied with the hammer cocked, if not, I'll leave it alone.

One neat thing was my gun was marked cal 08 on the barrel to signify 9x19 caliber like the P08 Luger pistol. I though only the German market intended ones were but mine does not see to fall in to a Nazi serial # range. I surmised though from another site that possibly it was made for the Bulgarians during the WW2 time frame, the guns proof markings do indicate a 1943 manufacture.

The more I thought I knew about Spanish guns, the less I realize I do know! Any comments or help appreciated. I wonder where this latest batch of Star B's came from, I was thinking maybe South Africa but maybe it was Bulgaria.
