I inherited a Star Model BS 9mm from my Father. He picked it up at a pawnshop strictly to have around for home defense. I never thought much of the gun until I needed something to take my first gun class with and I didn’t want to buy a pistol until I had taken the class and knew more about what I should consider. But upon checking it out on the net, I found out that it was a more respectable pistol then I would have thought (not great but well respected in Europe) and that the BS model is not very common and while there are parts for a number of models you find nothing for this particular model..

Well I started the class with it and experienced all sorts of FTE; the instructor gave me his brand new G19 to use for the rest of the class and said it probably needed a new spring and extractor. It is very; very easy to rack so it could very well have a played-out guide rod spring. It is not a great pistol and I doubt that it is a collector’s pistol but if I could make it serviceable I would like to keep it. So here is where I am at:

I either need to know some place to get parts, at least to try a new spring, for Star BS model, or more likely find out that the parts for the BS model are interchangeable with a more common model like the B model. Can some one help me out on this? Thanks

Sorry, specificaly the round would fire but the case would remain in the barrel and not eject and the pistol would try and load a new round leading to a stage two failure. Case still in the chamber and one either trying to get out of the magizine or stuck in the works.

sounds like a broken extractor or. . . . .

maybe one that is not properly tensioned. Gunsmiths that work on Star pistols are not on every streetcorner but I imagine an internet search would turn up one willing to have a go at it.

I had a similar problem with my Star BM. I did 3 things and haven't had a failure to extract since.

First, I made sure the chamber was perfectly clean. And then I used a toothbrush to clean the "lip" of the extractor. Finally, I put a little penetrating oil on the extractor.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I did email Bob’s and they responded “No sorry we don't know where to get parts for it” and apparently none of the other models have interchangeable parts with this model. I had already tried the “usual suspects” and while they do have Star parts they do no have anything for the Models BS. Rio Shooter I will try what you suggested and just hope that it works.

Again Thanks

go to gunbroker.com do a search for STAR there is one man who can help ya out with parts for the star BS and pretty much only one man and he sells there he is in Spain and pretty much your only option for parts.. his name is Jorge Can't recall his user I.D but he'll be the only one sellin parts ya'll have to get a communication goin with him I used to have his e-mail addy but.... been awhile

That is a nice gun and worth a little time and money to make it right. I am not sure but I think many of the BM parts will interchange. Many of the BMs that came into country in the past few years had extraction problems. It is a simple fix that almost always a worn spring. They tend to be easy to rack so that may or may not be an issue.

They also tend to be insanly accurate. I have a Star Bm that will shoot with ANY auto pistol I have ever owned. I am not joking, it will do a single one hole group at 25'. I have another that is accurate as well but not quite as jaw dropping.

Great guns that will last and last even in alloy.
