I had a Star in .45 years and years ago. It was reliable and a reasonably good shooter, although heavy for what it was. I had two bad experiences with the pistol. Once when I detail stripped it to give it a good cleaning, like I did with my 1911's, my cleaning rag caught a spring and bent it out of shape and the trigger wouldn't reset. No amount of bending would fix the problem. I wound up ordering another spring and spares.
The second experience was at the range. I don't remember why, but I had the slide off of the gun. A guy had his kid out there and the kid inadvertently knocked the slide off of the bench onto the concrete. It landed on the muzzle portion of the slide. When I picked it up, I found that the hole for the barrel to pass through was misshapen. It wouldn't go back together after that. Nice range toy, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
It's only $200. If you like it, buy it. Personally, for a little more than $200, you can pick up a used C series Kahr. I just picked up a CT9 for $250.
