Starr Firestarr?

I owned the 9mm version some years ago. Nice shooting gun as it had some weight to it. It persuaded me to buy a .45 from Star called the Megastar. It was truly a 1911 sized firearm on steroids...weighted something like 48 ounces loaded with a double column 12-round magazine. Had 3-dot sights, was SA/DA, was very accurate, but you literally could beat an assailant to death with it if necessary. It functioned as my bedside table gun for more than 10 years until replaced with a “modern” 9mm with a laser/light sight. Due to its rarity it sold for more than I originally paid for it,

Bought a Md43, it was my first 9mm. Bought it new at a gun show on a whim. Got it for a real good price because Star went under and this dealer couldn’t sell it.
Thought I’d take a chance and never regretted it. Never used it for a carry piece though because for as small as it is you’d need suspenders to carry it.
After all these years it has lived in the gun safe!

I had a Star in .45 years and years ago. It was reliable and a reasonably good shooter, although heavy for what it was. I had two bad experiences with the pistol. Once when I detail stripped it to give it a good cleaning, like I did with my 1911's, my cleaning rag caught a spring and bent it out of shape and the trigger wouldn't reset. No amount of bending would fix the problem. I wound up ordering another spring and spares.

The second experience was at the range. I don't remember why, but I had the slide off of the gun. A guy had his kid out there and the kid inadvertently knocked the slide off of the bench onto the concrete. It landed on the muzzle portion of the slide. When I picked it up, I found that the hole for the barrel to pass through was misshapen. It wouldn't go back together after that. Nice range toy, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

It's only $200. If you like it, buy it. Personally, for a little more than $200, you can pick up a used C series Kahr. I just picked up a CT9 for $250.

Loaded it's about the same as a LW Commander.
A few ounces heavier than a Glock 19.
You guys talk like its heavier than 1911 Gov't Model.
