I can honestly say that my interest in Hi Powers is solely due to him.
I was ironically at the range yesterday, shooting my new HP, thinking of him and how much fun I was having because of some of his suggestions and his overall inspiration.
I had planned to write a detailed range report and thank him...
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading his work over the years, he was very influential to me in the beginning of my interest in handguns. With his writings alone he did so much to reach out and educate people.
RIP Mr. Camp and Thank You. You were one in a million.
I did not know Mr. Camp in person, but his posts were always pleasure to read. He did teach me a lot about my favorite pistol - the Hi-Power. May he rest in peace!
A few months ago, I purchased the updated version of his book "The Shooters Guide to the Browning Hi Power." When I received, the book I was pleased to see a short note on the inside cover telling me that he hoped that his book would serve me well.
From everything I have heard of him and the things that he wrote, it is obvious that he was a knowledgeable yet humble gentlemen. The world would be a better place if there were more like him.
Such sad news, my prayers are with Mr Camp's family.
I just read a few recent posts by him, just in the last week. Always helpful, always polite. And just last month I bought his newly revised book on his beloved Hi Powers, and like TMann said he even took the time to autograph and thank me for the purchase.
A very nice man, a very good man. He will be missed by many.
I always found myself reading anything that he posted. The couple posts that I made, that he responded to were greatly appreciated. A man with so much information & willing to give it to you freely and he did it in an encourgaing way. You know ,the kind of way that did not make you feal stupid. I have 3 CZ's & 2 T series BHP's because he was one of the guys that started my interst in them. He will be missed here.
