Want to order some parts for a Fox/Savage model B from Numrich.
Which they refer you to Stevens 311.
They list 10 different models.
A, C, C SERIES F, C SERIES H, D, D SERIES F, D SERIES H, E, E SERIES F,
E SERIES H,
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT ALL THESE MEAN ?
Thank you.

They refer to the evolution of this gun through the many years they were being built. Starting with A and ending with the H model. A suffix probably refers to the grade, not sure about that.

Darned good gun, rather crude, but sturdy. I used them a lot of years. In fact, I just sold my last one about a month ago. Traded it for a Nova pump.

Stevens started making this gun in the A model and quit with the H model. Started in 1931, ending production in 1989.

I cut my teeth on one of the A models in 2 3/4" chamber. Last one I had was an H model in 3". Mighty stout guns. Not pretty, rather crudely made. Had many a day afield with them. Only gun poor people could afford in my day.

It was a sad day when they quit producing them. Mighty good gun for the money. Why do these gun makers quit when they have a winner?:cuss:

The 311A,B,C,D,E,F, and H are listed as simply hammerless boxlock. The H was also available with a vent rib. The J and R were also available with a solid rib while the H was specificed as a Waterfowler Hammerless Boxlock --whatever that means. Letter must have to do with how fancy the model was since values listed are all different. I have no idea if any internals were different.
