Anyone have any experience with a Stevens 512 Gold Wing Youth? I'm looking for a youth shotgun and the price on these seem pretty decent. It's a little heavy at 7.25 #'s, but not too bad. Also, if anyone has any suggests for another 20ga youth, I'd be grateful. I'm also considering an Auto. I'm pretty set on 20ga; .410 is not quite enough gun and 28ga is perfect, but I can't afford to feed one cases of shells.

Thanks!

I don't know anything about these except for what I have read about them. I was reading in a forum about them this morning. You can go to Shotgunworld forum and it is under shotgun opinions.
Some people there related bad experiences and some had good ones with the 512.
Read the posts, ask questions and make your decision, I say.
Good luck.

A MEC reloader and you'll be enjoying the 28 for about $3.25/box......;)

As to the 512, it is not made by Savage, but imported by them, cheap O/U's from many companies have had issues as quality and materials are not as good as higher end guns - it takes a lot more labor to make a good O/U or SxS than a pump or auto
You might want to look at a Beretta or Benelli semi for lightweight or the good old Remington 1100 for one a little heavier.

Weight is your friend when it comes to recoil reduction but your enemy when carrying it in the field, so determine your main usage and go accordingly.

Personally, I had a Remington 1100 in 28 and would still have it now but I reload my 12 and 20 gauge guns with the same payload - 3/4oz, so I sold it. For anyone recoil sensitive, that would be the ideal gun to start someone with and still have a good chance for success (as opposed to hitting anything with a 410)

That sure beats $14/box of AA's (I think that's what I paid last time I bought some).

LT20 is an option. I may see if I can find one w/ choke tubes and a vent rib (I've got an older one that's fixed IC / slick barrel).

I was eyeballing a Benelli Montefeltro the other day, but the last 2 weeks I've had some stuff come up that's bleed me...
