Stevens Mod 67 Series E 12Ga. Pump Bolt Removal

I tore one of these down for my brother-in-law over Christmas... I'm working from memory, but here goes.
Run the slide back. I removed the magazine first, but it might be better to do that after the bolt is out.
Find the takedown screw on the receiver--I think it's towards the rear of the trigger group. There's a screw that holds one of the magazine fingers in place--that isn't it. Remove the take-down screw, pivot the barrel down.
The pump has a rod that runs in a groove on the left side of the receiver, you'll need to pry this inward to disengage the bolt carrier and then push the bolt out the rear of the receiver. Getting the bolt back in is tricky--I had to play with the magazine fingers to get it back together.

I just came in from the shop and saw your post. (After I had put it back togeather
) I went a few steps furthur and drifted out the pin and droped the entire trigger assembly out. It was really dirty Holding the slide bar over a little the bolt slides right out as you explained. By chance if you have a chance to talk to your brother-in-law would you ask him if his also says Stevens on the barrel. I can't find one ( a Stevens Mod 67)in the Numerich Gun Parts book but the the Springfield Mod 67 Ser E seems to be the same thing, Curious if his is called Springfield or Stevens. The one Im working on doesn't want to extract 3" but handles 2 3/4 with no problem. The face of the brass and primer cup of the 3" are pretty flattened after firing and the o.d. grows about .012-,013" after firing. Im thinking the chamber is oversize. Im wondering if the extractor springs might be sacked. The extractors look wore but not significantly.

I think it says Savage on the barrel, but not sure. His dad got it in Iran at a police auction--long story, but this was more than a couple years back.
The hammer on it falls when the safety is on if you drop it on the buttplate (he almost lost his head when it happened). I think it needs a new set of springs at a minimum if not a complete retirement.
