I have inherited a 22-410 that eas left in a gun case for twenty years one side has rusted, im trying to clean this gun up and can not figure out how to remove the stock.
This parts schematic, the last page, of the Savage 24 should get you started since it's the same gun, although this drawing shows a black plastic stock.
The short version is, according to memory from when I owned one 40 years ago, remove the 2 screws that hold the pad/buttplate and then look for the big stock bolt/screw. The forearm simply pulls away from the barrel at the front end.
