Needing to restore Stevens Model 58D Bolt 20 Gauge Shotgun. Removed and cleaning barrel to be reblued. Does barrel break away from receiver as in other bolt action rifles?

Welcome to THR, rickbmac.

I'm only guessing, but it does use a recoil lug between the barrel and receiver so I think it is a screw in barrel. I would leave everything together for rebluing, (barrel, lug and receiver) because the lug would need to be oriented properly at assembly, if you disassembled it.
Maybe that would not be an issue for you.

barrel break away

Thank You NCsmitty,

Think I will leave well enough alone. Need to come up with a way to put into lathe so that I may polish barrel.

Also trying to find a new stock if I cannot repair the one I have. Any suggestions?

gunparts corp in west hurley ny. You can machine a plug to fit in where the bolt goes out of aluminum. have done this several times for sanding etc.

The trigger guard seems to be made from something other than steel. For this reason I do not believe it will accept cold blue. How is finish applied to this part.

its probably aluminum. i have used gunkote and alumahyde with great success. it matches well with a good blue or black (deep bluing)

Will Brownells Aerosol Baking Lacquer work or does that only work on steel?

it will do just fine. many factories use baking lacquer as a standard. gonna be thicker than some finishes though. but on a trigger guard it will work out just perfectly. just remember to do a few lighter coats to cover it instead of one or two heavy coats.
