I am seeking opinions. LGS has a used Stevens Tactical 12 ga. 18" barrel, 3" chamber, Ghost Ring rear and fiber optic front sights for $200.00 it has a dull matte finish (probably blued) and two action bars to the forearm. It is of course for self-defense and affordable enough for a truck gun.

Comments please.

I have a buddy with a Stevens and he's happy with it. Psst... Don't tell anyone but the one I handled I liked a little bit more than my Mossberg 500 Persuader. Might not last as long as the Mossy but I rarely shoot that beast and I was going to sale it but my wife talked me out of it. Most useless gun I own.

I would buy it.

That sounds like a Stevens 320 Security. MSRP is $260, and Academy Sports sells them new for $230, or $220 (I assume the lower price model has a plain blade front rather than fiber optic).

My only other issue is that you can get a new, US made Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 for a little over $300. Those shotguns have proven track records, and can also be purchased used in the Mid $200s (sometimes low $200s).

If you want the Stevens I'd haggle hard with the LGS on the used or buy new from a big box store.

I'm not sure about the current price but my Mossberg was $360 almost 3 years ago. $200 for a new 12g seems decent to me.... But I'm not a big shotgun guy

Only problems I've heard about these foreign made clones are the parts aren't interchangeable. The one thing I've noticed is they are heavy compared to the originals. I don't know what steel is being used but they handle alot more sluggish. JMHO
