Trying to get more information on STI Nitro 10 but there seem to be very few if any for sale so it's hard to pin down the value on one of these in extremely lightly used like new condition.
Indications seem to be that they're worth between 1400 + $2,000.

I've been offered one in trade + 320 rounds of defensive hundred 80 grain 10 MMO and $50 cash for a used very good condition Freedom Arms model 83 field grade 454 Casull.
I figured mine's worth about 1400.

So what are some pros and cons about the STI Nitro 10 and any experiences anybody has actually had with one
And what are your estimations of relative value of the two handguns in question?

Value is similar, so your getting a good deal. The FA is much more common, and while desirable, it is not bringing a premium as the ya re so easy to find. The STI is much less plentiful, and 10mm is the hot cartridge now so...if you don’t end up liking the 10 you can part ways and likely get a bit more than the FA

Yes what I find is that value-wise it's a good trade and I own two other 454 Casull oils one of them being a Freedom Arms model 83 with a ported barrel that is scoped so personally I will not miss this 454 Casull particularly as I'm just bought a 460 xvr.

But just so I understand better I would like to know why you both feel so strongly that I should do this trade what do you know about the values and quality of these STIs because I am more of a revolver guy and can't find a lot of information on this model or comparisons of one's for sale to indicate value.

BTWthe guy I'm trading with wanted to meet on Saturday but I bumped it up to Friday and would have done it tomorrow but I'm going turkey hunting he seems very happy with the deal

Also can you guys please tell me what it is that you like about STI and this particular model?
As far as how it shoots and its reliability in cycling etcetera?
I had a Ruger 1911 10 mm that I bought brand-new a couple years ago and ended up selling it because it wouldn't cycle anything but ball ammo.
I'm more used to autoloaders like Springfield XDS and Ruger SR9 or Sr 40s or Glock 20s so I'm used to guns that function without any problems where as the Ruger 1911 10 mm ahead was a jam omatic and got a bad taste in my mouth for 1911's as it was my first.
Now I have Sig emperor scorpion 45 which I haven't had the chance to fire yet and hopefully soon we'll have this STI Nitro 10

STIs are great quality and harder to find than others.

I don’t have a Ten MM yet.

I recall you having more than one Revolversaurus Rex. I think from a Desert Eagle thread?

It came with ammunition, a weakness of mine is instant gratification, instant use would sway me. I am impulsive, nearly human.:D

Because here in the semi-auto sub-forum, the folks like semi-autos, and many of them like 1911's.

I see this trade as being bad for you. I don't expect you'd like the STI and you should probably stick with the revolvers for your needs.

I have no real experience with STI, but their reputation is very good in general among the shooting community. Personally there are very few models that make me interested enough to want to buy, but that's just me.

Freedom Arms are generally considered to be among if not the best SA revolvers currently made. With two other 454's and an XVR on the way, it definitely sounds like you have redundancy in your collection. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but as JTQ points out, your comment about having a less than favorable 1911 experience leaving a bad taste in your mouth should be considered. If you prefer other platforms due to preference or experience, will a more expensive modified version of the 1911 really change that? It might. If your opinion is only based on the reliability of the one you had, then keep in mind that's a sample of one. You could have the same, or a very different experience with the STI.

I think what I'm trying to say is do you really want the STI in question, or are you just liking the sound of the deal and the notion of having a 10mm again?

Personally I don't think the 1911 is the best platform for the 10mm, and there are better options. But that is based purely on my hands and how they interact with a 1911.
