Sticky Mosin Bolt

What is the simplest solution to the Mosin sticky bolt problem?

Mine is sticky at first, but as I fire shots more rapidly and everything heats up, the bolt operates more smoothly.

In my experience, simply cleaning all of the cosmoline out of the bolt and receiver will remedy the situation. And give it a good cleaning with rem oil. It is through doing this that mine has actually achieved the "call of duty" action Lol.

yep, disassemble the bolt, boil or brake cleaner or use solar power to get all the cosmoline (even the stuff you cant see) off and it should work like a champ.

In addition to the above suggestions, clean your chamber thoroughly with a chamber brush (or a well worn 20 gauge brush). Often there is dried cosmolene and other stuff that, when you use lacquer coated ammo, will stick and cause difficult extraction.

Interestingly if you have a sticky bolt there is one very easy solution.

After you fire a shot pull the bolt knob back into the fire position and the bolt will open easily.

Get a 20ga bore brush and your gun cleaner of choice. Use a short piece of cleaning rod with the brush attatched and chuck it in a drill. Use this "tool" to clean the chamber very well. Solves sticky bolt syndrom in every MN I have tried it in.

Mosin bolts can be hard to open.
Old trick was to slap up on the bolt handle to free it, the rest of the bolt cycle is pretty smooth because of the cartridge interuptor.

If it still sticks after a good cleaning just get in the habit of slappin up on the bolt to start the bolt cycle.
