Still carrying my 1898 30-40 Krag as my deer rifle. I took several other folks hunting and they killed deer so my chances have been cut about in half. Still, I carried it on three hunts at Clarksville, Tx and the only does I saw were too late to shoot with open sights. Deer movement seems really unusual this year. They still aren't hitting the feeders.

Two months to go shooting doetags. Shot doe with 1903A3, P17 and K98 Mauser so far. I thought the Krag would be long done by now. I've taken it back to the range a couple of times to recheck the zero. Everything stable.

We only have 9 deer down out of the 30+ we need to shoot. Slow going.

Video strips posted on Youtube under Blackfork6. Nice eight point buck, (with very small browtines) on the last one. He was the only deer that went to the feeder that evening.

Taking my Krag out to check my deercams behind lakehouse. Didn't kill a buck in Smith County this year and haven't hunted here much. Only one I was interested in with a dropped tine. He only showed on cams at midnight.

Delivering a doe one of my visitors shot to a local family. The shooter is an AMU guy who came home for Christmas. He and his dad came up to Clarksville to hunt yesterday morning and evening. They saw one nice buck and the yearling doe they shot on a doetag. We aren't shooting bucks up there. He used my scoped Ruger #1 in 7X57 on the doe.
