Hello all, Haven't been here in a while, but am again seeking informed counsel. I am getting Remington Model 700 SPS Tactical AAC SD 308 WIN, with a Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20X50 scope with Burris extreme tactical rings and 15moa Weaver style base. I haven't even touched it yet, but am asking if there are any cons to this weapon you all know of. The piece in question can be seen here http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=302959206, and was told it would stay listed only till he receives my ffl's copy.
Does it have any plusses, or glaring negatives? Relatively new to high power rifles (I have a .223 if that counts), and totally new to a rifle with such range. Just another FNG looking sor sage advice.

well yeah..

I am already. Well, not buying it outright, but trading one of mine for it. I wasn't really looking for one, although I have wanted a .308 for some time, but he was offering it as a trade item for something I had and could stand to trade out. I was asking for advice from folks that owned one, or similar, on what worked for them, right?

Other than what NBC has said about the safety it will be a go od intro rifle. Are you looking for advice on a new stock for it?

I'd replace the Hogue tupperware with a Bell & Carlson M40 Medalist...I wish like hell B&C made that stock for Savages...

Buy a case of 175gr Federal Gold Metal Match (or similar from Southwest Ammo) and go shoot!

While the Fullfield II is a quality optic, you might find it lacking enough elevation adjustment depending on how far you wish to shoot; if that happens I'd recommend selling it and getting one of the following (in no particular order, depending on your budget & desires):

Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40
Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10x40
Vortex Viper HS 5-15x44
SWFA SS 12x42

I have the Viper HS and the Weaver, and previously owned the Buckmaster...all will do what you want/need them to do without going broke.
