You don't need to believe in imminent SHTF to have a desire to close the door at night in the region where I live. Anyone who would sleep with their doors open within a 20 mi. radius of me is simply begging to be a statistic. :D Just like the folks in Jersey who didn't evacuate for Sandy; they didn't believe serious trouble was forthcoming. Then they were waiting and waiting and waiting for the .fed to save them from themselves.

My SHTF firearm is a pellet gun. Specifically a Benjamin HB22 multi pump pistol. Gunshots bring unwanted attention.

Hey, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thought this out too. I live in a neighborhood full of half acre tracts, but plenty of woods and brush nearby. I've often thought the best survival gun might just be a light weight, scoped, powerful air rifle.

And since somebody mentioned praying here, I stumbled upon an interesting Proverb tonight while reading. Prv 3:25 says, "Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, 26 for The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared." Being prepared never hurt for sure, but it would sure be nice to have God on your side too (or you on his side rather) when the poop goes down.

But we're talking about shotgun ammo here, so I'll come back to point. I usually try to pick up a flat of game loads (12 ga, 1 oz 7's-8's) whenever I catch a decent sale. I've picked up some foster slugs and a couple boxes of 00 too, but I doubt I'll put these to much use after a few rounds on the patterning board. Again, I usually only get ammo when I catch a good sale - and usually enough "fun" ammo to carry me through to the next sale, so that I'm never having to pay too much for it. But now that I think about it, I should probably pick up a few boxes of clay targets too - if the world does ever fall apart, I might as well plan on having some fun too, right? :)

Lets see, 300 rounds or dragon's breath, 100 rounds of bolo loads (two steel balls connected with a chain), and a hundred more rock salt loads should get you through just about anything!

jk of course!

Really, I would keep it simple: 100 1 ounce foster slugs, 100 9 pellet 00 buck loads, and 300 no. 6 field loads, all in 2 3/4".
