i have a 870 that is a bird gun my uncle gave to me because he couldent got use to a pump after he had a auto forever. i dont like wood or long barrels so i want a new stock and barrel but the stock comes first. i want a full stock with pistol grip and i want on that looks like the regular full stock, not some odd shaped one. how are the speedfeed III stocks? i really want on but thought i would ask how they were first? here is the website, i was looking at the speedfeed III of IV let me know ASAP please. http://www.speedfeedinc.com/?location=products

I have no experience with the speedfeed butt stock with ammo storage, but have heard more bad than good regarding that feature.

As far as the quality of the speedfeed stocks, I have owned a couple and have been happy with them. My recommendation therefore would be the Speedfeed IV . Maybe some others can reply on the reliability of the ammo storage and feed feature of the III .

The Speedfeed stocks themselves are good, the SF feature is debatable.

Little advantage to a full stock with PG, but little downside also. If it floats your boat....

thanks guys, where would you recomend that i buy one from? how much do the SF IV stocks cost? i know i can get a SF III for about $100 for the stock, forarm, and recoil pad.

I,m sure there is a ton of places that sell these . I would do a google or dogpile search for them.

I pulled them up on a dogpile search and got several hits. The first of which was www.arizonagunrunners.com where the IV is listed at $63 for the set and the III is listed at $60 . (+shipping)

I checked a couple others sites that were a bit higher, such as Cabela's , Brownells .

I would also check ebay , as you can pick stuff up there pretty reasonable at times. At the moment they have standard speedfeed stock sets for the 870 but no III's or IV's for the 870. (one for the 1100 sitting at $56)

CRide... I picked up a good synthetic stock on one deal and the next deal with this company was a comedy of errors but I will give you their name, with reservation, the company is HOOSIERS, find them on a search engine. GOOD LUCK

IMHO the best synthetic stocks are made by Hogue.

However, they are still not as nice as wood stocks and long barrels.

Mike
