Went by Bass Pro Shops today to "look" at a Stoeger Cougar 9mm. Well I've finally learned that I can't just go "look". Initial price was $419, $443 including tax and $2.00 government background check and out the door. What a nice pistol. If it shoots as nice as it feels and looks then it'll be a winner. Range report to follow after shooting it this coming weekend, maybe tomorrow. Bass Pro Shops has "different" procedures than any other place I've bought a gun from before. Two "store" paper works that they fill out and have you sign, then government paperwork is filled out, signed and double checked by another store employee. They have a lock on the trigger that they won't remove in the store. They give you a key to take it off with after you leave the store. Gun is boxed up, sealed with tape and employee carries the gun to the front door of the store for you and gives it to you as you leave the store. Different but very customer friendly!
