Stolen items (three silencers)

Wow. This is extremely disturbing. Mainly because I know how willing you are to let others enjoy your collection. The fact that this "wasn't enough" for somebody is disgusting.

I may be going to the gun show this weekend, so I'll keep my eyes open. I'm somewhat suprised that the ATF isn't on this, at least to some degree, especially with an office right in town. Nevertheless, I'm pretty optimistic. If someone is dumb enough to steal three NFA items without considering the stakes, I expect them to screw up and get caught at some point. The fact that you have SOME idea of who it might have been shows shades of their idiocy as well.

Anytime you need a "range buddy" to "watch the line" for you. Give me a call. I'll answer even if I can't go.

Best of luck to you, PTK.

PTK,

Yeah, if you need someone to come out and watch over your stuff, you know me and I would be happy to help you keep an eye on your gear. I just wanna shoot the grenade launcher again :p

Did anything happen at the gun show? I guess not because nobody posted......

PTK--Wish i were out there to help look around, but if they pop up here in KY, i will let you know:D:D:D Overall, this really sucks...

PTK,

I spread the word at the gun show. I even talked to the guys who originally sold you the suppressors. Everyone is watching out for these. So far, no one has heard or seen anything.

Figures.... here's hoping the damn things turn up. No one at the school saw anything that they're sharing, so that was a dead end too.

I'm going to unsticky this thread, as it seems to have gone to "invisible" mode. That seems to happen to stickied threads.

Please keep this incident in mind though, folks. And if you hear anything, either post here or PM either PTK or myself.

Question: Assuming the worst, that you cannot locate & recover them, will this harm your ability to re-apply for NFA items with BATFE? Will they hold it against you?

I really, really hope not. :(

I want to replace these when I'm financially able to.

I would be checking to see if your homeowners policy has any theft provision for something like this...many times they do.

I can't imagine anyone that stupid -

But I guess it's because I keep 'stupid' from infecting me. I'll post on WarRifles, Rimfire, and others. Sorry for your loss. I know from past history sometimes stuff like this shows up in Nevada for some reason..

Sorry

PTK,

Huge bummer. I am really sorry for your loss. From a newbie form 4 guy...what is the process from this point? Do you need to notify the ATF? Is it a federal offense because of the federal reporting laws?

Good luck in finding them and the culprits.

Here is to keeping this going. I'm in El Paso County. Someone might try taking these to Dragon Man, so I will try to get the word out to Mel. I just found this post since I'm not on often, but will help in any way I can.

Just a thought, but could someone have picked them up (if they were in boxes) on accident, thinking that it was a another one of their pistols cases?

Stealing an NFA weapon is possibly one of the dumbest things you can do.

No. Not a chance this was an accident.

How many people were there? I'd assume the police would want to talk to everyone?

Maybe set up a "Just get them back to me" type deal? I would imagine it being difficult to man up about it, especially with the consequences.

iiibdsiil

For obvious reasons I'm not going to discuss the investigation.

When something 'hot' happens, somebody always talks about it.

And if it gets told to a few other people, then the question is what the listeners will do about it, assuming that they live in that area.

Is there a sign posted at the range to inform people that maybe a guest is involved?

out of curiosity, what was the ATF's response when you notified them?

taliv, I was in a rollover wreck on 11/22/2006. I had head trauma that had me woozy for about the ten days I was in the hospital, a broken rib, and a collapsed lung required a chest tube. I really didn't think about the seven firearms, suppressor, and other valuables in my vehicle until I was discharged. The firearms had been recovered scattered up and down the roadside. The $500 Surefire weapon light/foregrip on my M4orgery was gone. The suppressor was gone. The Canon digital SLR was gone. A large first aid kit was gone.

I reported this to the ATF. Once they realized that the suppressor was not attached to a firearm, their response was ho-hum. The agent that I talked to thought that the deputy who worked the accident had probably taken it. He wrote it up and gave me a report. That was about the extent of the ATF investigation. He didn't seem too concerned or interested.

Wow that sucks, sorry to hear. I'll post this up on HKPro.com and M1911.org. There are a bunch of people from CO on both of those sites. Hope these get located and the ones who stole them get caught and prosecuted.

PTK, what is your contact email, if you don't mind me posting it those on the sites. If not, I will have people PM me and I will get back with you.
