Any updates? BTW, I would guess the value (before he raised the BS fee factor) at around 6-800 dollars. Hope you get 3X that...

Update- Not much new, he received a demand letter from my Attorney for payment and refused. The suit was filed, now I am just waiting on a court date. Looks like it is going to be awhile though.

I am willing to put his information out there now. Since it is filed at the clerk of courts, it is now public record.

Sorry for not updating. Work has been extremely hectic recently and the dial up internet at the house takes to long. I will try to keep updating as much as possible.

Did you ever contact BATFE?

What a POS. I hope you nail this guy. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for this jerk on the auction sites!

Hey Hammers,
I just stumbled on this thread and read it from start to now. Guys like that deserve the book thrown at them. Keep us updated. I have to hear how this one ends. I'm hooked on this one like a reality show....

If you feel the least bit threatened by this individual, you should immediately file an Order For Protection. I think the fact that he may be in the process of committing gun related felonies would be enough to justify one.

Here is some helpful info:

...and he said you can buy them all day for 200.00 dollars...

That statement is entirely correct; You can buy them all day for $200.00, IF you have a time machine and can go back to 1974...:D

Now that I've seen this thread, I'm very interested. This dealer sounds like a grade A scumbag and should be slammed with everything possible.

I really hope this became an ATF matter as well. A retailer that can't keep clean records, then tries shenanigans like that is obviously VERY shady.

I love it when someone has the guts to really put up a fight. This guy is in a ton of trouble on top of owing you. If he's got half of a brain he's got an attorney that should try to make a deal with yours. Please be sure to let us know what happens as this goes on. It will be nice to know that this guy gets what he's earned.

This is just supposition, but I'd bet money someone in his shop, perhaps a friend of his, took a fancy to the gun, and they thought the "lost" thing would fly...just give you a couple hundred after you found that it was gone, and all would go away. As it is, you may have exposed fraud, theft, falsification of a police report, records keeping that BATF will probably find reason to pull his license, and a small claims settlement that gives you fair trade (maybe over $1000) for your loss. Best of luck. It may turn out that now being officially stolen, makes the gun so "hot" the person holding it might sell it, and it may turn up....and the TRUE story even available after an investigation.

Hi Hammers,
I know it's been a while. I'd love to hear an upate as well. Even if it's just to say in progress and laywer says I can't talk about it. Many thanks.

I would say he sold your Python and pocketed the money. A Python on any of the gun auction site like your is running $1000.00 or more. In my area gun shops are getting $1200.00 for a nice Python. In California a thief like that would be reported to the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice would investigate his business and with the Police arrest him for stealing a handgun. Be patience I think you will win and get at least a replacement Python. Show auction prices on Pythons at Gunbroker and Guns of America. Your lawyer should be able to win the case. I hope the SOB gets arrested for stealing a firearm.

Good luck,

Nothing yet as far as progress, still waiting on a court date. He has an attorney and has offered me less than 500.00 for it. I told them no, so just have to wait and get a court date. If anything changes, I will post it. Haven't been on in a while due to loss of internet at my house.

Thanks Hammers. We have an heirloom firearm in our family. Mass produced and worthless to an outsider. Priceless from a sentimental value. I'd be doing the same thing as you and take it to court. Did DOJ or ATF ever get involved?
