I was born in '46 and grew up in NYC. First rifle I bought when I turned 18 was bought on canal street and carried home on the subway wrapped in brown paper. Ammo was in my pocket. It was an Enfield in .303

I too was born in '46 but not in NYC, in CA and raised in LA. My first rifle was a Winchester .30-30. I remember carrying it outside a friends pizza parlor during the Watts Riots to help protect the store. I also remember a National Guard patrol marching by and they never even blinked when they saw me. My, how times have changed!
