Straightline seating die

A while back Guns & Ammo came out with a magazine" The Book of th AR 15".
On page 150 there is a picture of a die set on a Dillion 550. The picture shows
a seating die with an oval shaped window in the side of the die, and you place the bullet in the window and it lines it up so it seats the bullet. They say the die is made by Redding, but I have checked with Sinclair and other companies that carry Redding dies, and they all say its not made by Redding.
It is not a competition die because it does not have the micrometer stem on top. This is my first time on here and I thought I would with some of you to se what you thought. Thanks , Jimmy.

Yes. It's about the same price as the Redding and Forster competition dies, which in my opinion, are better. I use the Redding Competition seater in .223 and .308 for highpower and precision rifle ammo.

I just checked the RCBS site and I can't find the same die in the picture. The RCBS dies have micrometer stems on top and the don't look the same. Maybe they changed them!

That sounds like a Vickerman. The professional reloader who got me started used one.

Thanks Ol Joe, but as the site you sent me to says"not for use in progressive
presses, and I think that I included in my first post that the picture in the article was of that die in a Dillon 550, just like mine. Thanks for trying to help though. I don't know what the vickers looked like, but this article was just a few months old. Thanks, Jimmy

RCBS just came out with another version of thier inline seating die which uses bushings to size the neck. It's nice but I agree with the above post, Redding is better.

Thanks , but thats not it either. I wish I had a scanner, but I don't. The die looks just like any other seating die, but on the side is a little oval shaped window about 2 inches high and three fourths of or an inch wide oval shaped.
Maybe someone out there has the same magazine article in a Guns & Ammo magazine titled "Book of the AR 15 ".It came out in May or June of this year.
The picture is on page 150, and the article was written byPatrick Sweeney.

If you're just looking for a seating die with a window that can be used on a progressive, RCBS says their Gold Medal seating die can be used on most progressive presses. This is a different die than the RCBS Competition seating die that they say can't be used on progressive presses.
