I have a Mod.38 Russian 7.62x54,and I really like the rifle. The other day I went into a gun shop and they had stripper clips for it for sale.I thought that would be a good item to have so I bought a few. When I got home I loaded up one with 5 rounds then tried to place the stripper clip into the weapon. It want go far enough into the receiver the bottom of the clip is hitting on the ejector. If I take the rounds out of the clip I can slide the tip of a screwdriver down to the ejector and push it back against the receiver and the clip will slide down to where it should go.Is there more than one type of clip or am I doing something wrong?

I've heard that the aftermarket stripper clips for mosins are spotty on function. If you can get some of the original com-bloc clips they should work well.

Do they have any marking on the back of the stripper? If you see an arrow in a triangle or such thats the right one. If not, they are likely copies and they won't work as well. It took me a year or two to get enough GOOD stripper clips for my M-38 to have a belt full, and the guy I sold the whole mess to was properly grateful.
Find Russian ammo that comes on strippers in the brown paper packages wrapped up in string, and they should work.

Brown paper packages wrapped up in string? Whaddya know, Julie Andrews WAS onto something there!

I've got Polish Military Clips available on my website if interested in original military clips. The Aftermarket ones are iffy on function and the Chinese ones that Tapco offered a few years back were only good for cutting your fingers.

I have already cut a deep gash in my thumb from trying to shove the rounds down into the receiver. The stripper clip looks like stainless and has a triangle on the back.
