Stupid me. Tactical mistakes. Overall dumb behavior on my part.

They 'gotcha' with that one WN. Don't let em disarm you mentally, be above that.

The punk was jus lookin for a reaction from within the safety of his friends. He got it and thereby, 'gotcha'

Tactical reverse psychology! (big toothy grin) I've used that and its great. Turns the tables on em and usually leaves em speechless. Careful with that though, if their ego is small enough they may still try and escalate. Happened to me once. Riding my bike in fact, big guy sees me coming, strikes a hostile posture, daring me to ride by him. Gave him the big toothy grin as I'm about to pass and he didn't like it so steps in front of me and forces me to stop. He said something to the effect of "you startin crap with me?"...I said real calmly "Why would I start crap with you? you'd obviously kick my ass"...to which he says "you right, ok, just checkin"...and steps out of the way and I proceed on my way.

Who won? We both did. No one went to the hospital or jail. I outsmarted him by feigning respect for him. He got what he was looking for, a small boost to his ego and I got what I wanted by not getting my ass kicked or having to shoot someone. Everybody won, jus a matter of perspective.

You did alright. You lived to learn and are still walking around eh.

WOW... didn't see this till now. Honestly I'm more than a little shocked that something like this is coming from a HighRoad member.

Forgetting to lock your doors is a mistake. Not practicing enough is a mistake. Turning your bike around and initiating a hostile confrontation with 3 HIGH SCHOOL KIDS because one of them WAVED at you is NOT a "mistake".

It is indicative of an overall attitude that is WHOLLY unsuited for someone who is carrying a firearm (illegally, on top of that). Others already summed it up better than I would have, but sheesh...

All I'm gonna say is that firearms and people with self esteem problems running around with something to prove about "not taking crap from high school punks" do NOT mix.

Sure, everything turned out fine THIS time. In the future, it won't. Not a matter of "if", but "when".

I insulted somebodies GIRLFRIEND?????

and now it's erased and I don't know what I even said?

(Okay, no more late night brewskies.)

Apologies to who ever has one coming.

(This is weird)

Gotta wonder how some of you guys would react though if someone across the street was whistling at your wife or calling her a fat *lut.

Sounds a bit worse than, well, getting WAVED at, but I'd still walk away.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

being single (anyone care to guess why? :neener: ) i dont have to worry about anyone calling my wife/gf fat or sexually promiscous. but if i did, so what? maybe i like overweight women?

when people talk smack about you or someone close to you, are they ever correct in their insults? no! so what if they call me fat or laugh at me? so what if they call my mom obscene names?

Let me ask you this WonderNine. Let's say we respond the way you think we should. Tell wife insulter to kiss you where the sun don't shine. Now let's say this degenerates into a fistfight. You feel good so far? Now let's say wife insulter decides to pull a knife and, God forbid, you're forced to shoot and kill this guy.

First question. Was that worth killing someone over?
Second. This may sound like self defense. Are you certain that the DA, the jury and the dead guy's family will see it that way? Again, was it worth it?

Do you kinda see what some of us are getting at. The only variable within your control is your response. Anything beyond that is unpredictable. Are you willing to bet your future on the response of another individual who has already demonstrated his own poor judgement?

The fact is while many people, including those here on THR could sympathize with you, most won't give you a free pass for contributing to a situation where a man winds up getting seriously injured or killed.
