Yes, another "help me choose a gun" thread.

What are my good options for a Glock 27 sized gun in 40 S&W, but with a true double action trigger? DA/SA is fine but so is DA only. I'm not opposed to polymer guns but metal is good too.

The Sig P239 comes to mind, as does the P250, but I have heard mixed reviews of the P250 and I'm not sure just how compact it is. What else is about the same size as a G26/27/33/36?

M&P Shield no thumb safety....

For regular concealed carry, Id suggest the new "no thumb safety" M&P Shield. ;)
You can buy the M&P in .40 but I would use the smaller 9x19mm(9mm Luger).
It has more rounds & many Shield owners say the 9mm handles-cycles-feeds better than the .40S&W format.
The M&P Shields are extremely popular & there are many after market parts, custom features & holsters/gear.
Other sub compact .40s include the Kahr Arms CM40, the SIG P224 SAS/DAK(DA only), the PX4 sub-compact, the SIG P320 with the sub compact frame.

A couple of years ago, I ran into a guy over at my range, He had a Sig P250SC with him. I shot the thing and trigger was good. In fact, I shot it well!
Price was good and I adopted it....it has become my carry gun. I have had absolutely no issues with it. Despite it being the lower end of Sigs, I am totally satisfied.

As bluecollar posted, a Kahr PM40 or CM40 would make for a decent DAO sub-compact semi-auto. Recoil can be a bit snappy, especially with 180 gr. ammo, but still it's manageable and can be quite accurate once you master the DAO trigger.
