First thing - I am not asking for suggestions for another gun - or comments that I should have bought another gun - or any trash like that - please, limit your responses to the topic at hand!
I was given by my girlfriend a Taurus PT-1911 for Christmas. I have put approximately 1500 rounds through it so far, with ZERO problems. Shoots like a champ!
The only issue is the finish.. It's horrible.
I paid nothing for the gun, so I have no problems paying someone $100 to $250 to get it refinished.
I am wanting a two-tone refinish, with the slide, slide release, mag release, hammer, and ambi-safety being black.. The frame to be either gray or brushed stainless in appearance.
I have thought about brushed hard-chrome, black hard-chrome, nickel, even gun kote, but I am not doing blue... I have also considered Melonite for the the entire gun, but if I understand correctly, doesn't the gun have to be stainless for Melonite?
Can anyone suggest companies that you have dealt with in the past that would have reasonable prices and quality work? Preferrably one with a website, and possibly some photos of their work?
Also, suggestions for the best, longest lasting finish for a pistol that would be used as both carry and range gun would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
