Good morning,

I'm new to the forum and hope I'm following all of it rules.

I've been in search for a good gun safe for the past 6 months or so and think I've narrowed it down to the Summit line either the Sierra or Denali 50cf safes.
It appears they are American made, and made of heavier steel than many in its competitors price range, but I can't find as much info on these safes as I can others. The last thing I want is buyers remorse for not doing a good job researching. Below are a few questions.

Are theses safes truly American made?

What type of insulation do they use?

What is the difference between the Elite and Priemier lines?

Is there anything else I should be considering? I can get this safe in about a week unlike so many that are back order for months.

Thank you in advance,

Joe

Their website www.summitsafes.com lists specs for the lines. I went to the local Liberty dealer, and ended up with a Denali 60. It uses gypsum fireboard (aka sheetrock) but most RSCs do. Thickest external steel of all the RSCs I could find. S&G dial lock, which I prefer to electronic. The DS60 weighs 1700 lbs, the 50 is 1450. It cost me $250 for delivery and bolt-down, and was worth every penny.

I have no regrets.

I have one from Summit's Rainier line. It is a quality safe and I feel it is adequate protection. At the time I purchased it, it was the best value for the money and it was between this and a smaller Amsec. Glad I went larger because I'm pretty much out of room.

I visited many safe companies and several locksmiths over the course of a year while getting the money together. Several companies had returned safes that were burnt or broken into. One was a Chinese Canon or Browning or something similar like the ones you at BassPro etc for around $1000. It had been chopped and peeled open with and axe because it was just sheetmetal that was tack welded at the seams. The Rainier series I have is no where near top of the line but is a step above the typical imported safes you see at retail stores. It was the best security I could afford at the time and I feel it is adequate to stop most thieves attacks as seen by the locksmiths. The consensus there was that they usually attack the lock and break it off. They may go to your garage and use some tools to pry or cut on it but they usually give up quickly as they are in a hurry.

Bottom line: I have no complaints.
